1. Safeguarding Children-policy and procedures

J&C Coaching acknowledges its responsiblity to safeguard the welfare of every child and young person who has been entrusted to its care and is committed to working to provide a safe environment for all members. Anyone under 18 is a child when playing sports. We suscribe to the FA and policy and procedures.
The childs welfare is the parmount consideration.
Racial origin, age, disability and gender are key factors that will be protected.
All children have the right to be protected from physical, sexual or emotional harm and from neglect and bullying.
All allegations will be taken seriously and responded swiftly.
All coaches are CRB checked

It is accepted that our governing bodies aims to prevent people with a history of relevant and significant offending from having contact with children and young people and the opportunity to influence policies with children or young people.
Bullying is not accepted at J&C Coaching and will be dealt with. This includes on social media and all parents will be informed.

If a parent has concerns about a club or activity your child attends, first raise concerns with our management team at J&C Coaching.

We have a clear policy to deal with complaints or concerns. This should include instructions on:

how to raise a concern
who to raise a concern to
how we will deal with the concern

Our head of Safeguarding and our DSL is James Mckenzie. James is responsible for safeguarding children in the club or activity as well as all our staff. We refer to this person as the designated safeguarding lead.

A designated safeguarding lead should have a good understanding of specific safeguarding issues. This includes:

abuse in intimate personal relationships between children
bullying (including cyberbullying)
physical abuse
neglect
emotional abuse
harmful sexual behaviour, which can include:
- inappropriate sexual language, such as name-calling or sexual comments
- consensual or non-consensual sharing of nude or semi-nude images or videos
- accessing age-inappropriate sexual material online
- sexual activity without consent
- sexual violence, such as rape or sexual assault
- upskirting
activities involving harassment, abuse or humiliation used as a way of initiating a person into a group
extremism and radicalisation

the referral processes into the local council children’s social care team
what to expect when they make a referral to children’s social care
online safety
substance abuse

The designated safeguarding lead and senior coaches have had training that gives them the knowledge and skills they need for their role. We repeat the training at frequent intervals or if we need to change roles or duties.

DBS checks

The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) issues criminal record certificates. These help providers decide on the suitability of staff, especially when working with children.

All staff at J&C Coaching provider have regular checks. These are full Enhanced with Barred Lists DBS check.

2. Codes of Conduct-Sports

Community
Sport at all levels, is a vital part of a community. Sport will take into account community feeling when making decisions.
Equality
Sport is opposed to discrimination of any form and will promote measures to prevent it, in whatever form, from being expressed.
Young people
Sport acknowledges the extent of its influence over young people and pledges to set a positive example.
Trust and Respect
Sport wll uphold a relationship of trust and respect between all involved in the game, whether they are individuals, or other organisations.
Violence
We reject the use of violence of any nature by anyone involved in the game.
Fair play
The principle of playing to win consistent with fair play

We want all individuals to feel safe and for parents and carers to know we meet all vital criteria's such as...

a health and safety policy
a safe and clean environment - for example, a well-maintained building with a clear exit route in case of emergencies
a first-aid kit available and a person appointed to be responsible for first-aid
processes in place in case of a fire or emergency
qualified (to the appropriate level) staff members and volunteers
public liability insurance
hold an up to date DBS certificate checks on staff and volunteers
a code of conduct for staff, volunteers and children, as well as for anyone visiting the premises
a clear process for raising concerns and making complaints
an online safety policy regardless of whether children have access to online material at a setting

3.Coaches Code of Conduct

I will work with safety and enjoyment for every child
Never engage in or tolerate any form of bullying
Encourage each player to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance
Ensure all activities are organised and suitable for all age groups
Develop mutual trust and respect with every player to build their self-esteem

4. Parents Code of Conduct

Winning is not everything
Children play for fun
Applaud effort
Remain outside the barriers/ hall or playground to watch the children participate
Let the coach do the job and feel free to speak to them as soon as the session has finished
Never engage in or tolerate offensive, insulting, or abusive language and bullying.

5. Children Code of Conduct

Always play to the best of my ability
Play fairly
Shake hands after match situations
Talk to a coach about any concerning issues
Respect all players who participate at J&C Coaching
Foul and abusive language will result in a warning or suspension
Extreme behaviour or consistent behaviour will result in exclusion from our clubs

6. Equality Policy

Everyone is treated fairly and with respect and that we equally are accessible to them all.
Our commitment is to confront and eliminate discrimination whether by reason of gender, sexual orientation, marital status race, nationality, ethnic origin and disability.
Race relations act 1976, sex discrimination act 1975 and disability discrimination act 1995.
Any claims will be dealt with through investigation. A requirement that the practice stop and sanctions are imposed as appropriate.

7. Advice on photos and videos

Potential risks
The inappropriate use or copying of images for use on child abuse websites on the internet.
Child in care may not be allowed on the internet taking part in sport
parental seperation -restriction of photos
a child may be a witness in criminal proceedings.
Please ask coaches and parents for when is the right time to take photos of your own child or as a group photo in an activity

Every child attending their sessions will have stored information kept private by J&C Coaching.

at least one emergency contact number for the parent or carer (but ideally more than one)
their parent’s full name
the child’s home address

Parents should share any medical concerns or allergies your child may have.

We may collect the information through an electronic or printed form. If your child attends the club or activity for more than a year we shall ask you for updated information.
